The separation of social classes and emergence of new social classes brought about by Queen Victoria of England 1837- 1901 was known as the Victorian era. At the height of the industrial revolution in America, technological advances were emerging at an exponential rate, presenting new ways of architecture, faster ways of accomplishing production in diverse fields that would have otherwise been costly and taken longer to accomplish.

What may appear to be overdone at times with decorative trim work, corner brackets and craft fully finished homes, these new ways were exciting when learned they could actually be done. Victorian style homes were considered luxury at the time and were only available to the wealthy. The more elaborate the home, the wealthier the family. Many of these spectacular Victorian homes were built near the city and the country were wealthy families planned their estates and could commute to and from the city where they could run their business.
